About the project

At its core, the California Notification System for COVID-19, popularly known as CA Notify, is a mobile application designed to curb the spread of the virus. By leveraging Bluetooth technology, the app allows users to receive anonymous notifications if they have been in proximity to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and used the app to share the alert.

Tek Yantra, in a collaborative venture with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the California Department of Technology (CDT), demonstrated multi-faceted expertise, providing unyielding support and strategic implementation in both infrastructure and application facets of CA Notify. Managing the migration of the application from CDT to CDPH, Tek Yantra solidified its role as a reliable technological ally, ensuring uninterrupted, efficient service to the Californian populace.

  • Efficient Notification Process: Without requiring the app to be open, phones exchange these randomized keys. Should there be a match with a positive case, the user receives a notification alongside instructions from the public health authority on subsequent steps.
  • Scalability: The efficacy of CA Notify rises with its user base. The more people use it, the broader its impact on public health.
